Ode to the Soccer Field
(a playful love poem)
If you’re not from the soccer field,
You don’t know the sweat and tears,
The tackles and kicks,
And GOALS!
If you’re not from the soccer field,
You don’t know the mud and slips,
And the rain that can make everything go fast
And glide on the grass.
If you’re not from the soccer field,
Then you don’t know the flame and sweat
And the heat that starts like this small,
And then feels like normal,
And then feels like a blaze,
Until it’s fire.
Oh, how shall I say it?
Soccer, your black and white pentagons
Are all I need.
